Individual Growth
Katherine specializes in individual therapy with clients who want to
change the way they interact with the world, and in couples therapy
with people who are having relationship or parenting difficulties.
She helps people who are having relationship difficulties, who are
unfulfilled or unhappy with their jobs, or feel a sense of inner
emptiness.
The therapy can bring understanding and meaning to her clients lives.
Through the process of looking at and making sense of one's history
there can be growth. Identifying patterns of relating that may influence
the way that others react to you are helpful.
Clients often report being more effective and confident in their lives
and experience more intimacy in their relationships after engaging
in this type of therapy.
Couples
Another specialty is working with couples to resolve marital conflitct
and relationship or parenting problems. Katherine has had great success in helping
couples understand the dynamics of their relationship and identify new
patterns of interaction that improve their lives.
Depression
Katherine works with individuals suffering from depression. Her approach is both cognitive/behavioral and psychodynamic. Therapy helps people understand their feelings and put them in the context of their lives. Katherine offers support and helps her clients develop self awareness. Through this process, a client grows and develops new ways to cope with life.
Anxiety
People often come to therapy because they are experiencing anxiety. Katherine's approach to anxiety is both supportive and cognitive. Understanding one's feelings and sharing them in therapy reduces anxiety over time. There is a process of desensitization that reduces anxiety as the client experiences life from a more stable place. Katherine creates a safe, therapeutic environment for this exploration and development.
